Eau Claire is established at the confluence of the The Chippewa and Eau Claire Rivers. The Chippewa River State Trail is a paved bike trail which follows a route along these river ways and crosses them at dramatic bridges.

Paved in asphalt and a smooth ride, this popular trail connects directly to the Red Cedar Trail and via a few miles of lightly trafficked streets to the Duncan Creek and Old Abe State Trail. The Chippewa River and Old Abe trails combine for the perfect road bike route with scenic views along the entire distance. The Chippewa River Trail also serves as a major commuter route and links UW Eau Claire to Halfmoon Lake and sites downtown.
