Door Bluff Headlands is a county park perched on a bluff overlooking Green Bay at the end of the Port Des Morts Passage between Gills Rock and Washington Island. You'll find several unmarked trails crisscrossing this county park. I recommend what I am dubbing the blue trail - a 2.5 mile moderate loop.

One of the quietest and least visited natural wonders in Door County is Door Bluff County Park. It is simply a wilderness at a key scenic point at Deaths Door. There is a circle drive parking lot, a portable restroom, and an information kiosk without much information. From there you must navigate unmarked but well tread trails through the park. For this hike I am recommending what I am dubbing the blue trail - a 2.5 mile moderate loop.
This loop initially climbs along the edge of the bluff through a dense cedar forest. There is one bald outcropping with unobstructed views of Green Bay. The trail then descends into lush hardwood forest. Several offshoot trails join this mainline and I have not mapped all of them. It appears there is a network of cross country ski trails here which cross private land as well as Door Bluff County Park.
On my recommended loop route you will eventually be dumped out at Door Bluff Park Road - a quiet gravel road which you can follow back to the parking lot. Another option would be to circle back on the Red trail which is marked with red spray painted circles and slashes on some trees.
This park is a rustic wilderness, open to exploration. It is possible to descend the front of the bluff to the waters edge without much hassle via the yellow route on my GPS map. Fishermen may find this location to be a private and excellent fishing site.
