Ice Age Trail Lodi Marsh Segment |
This quiet section of trail offers an easy introduction to hiking on the Ice Age Trail. It is often used by locals for dog walking and trail running. The footpath is wide, grassy, and well maintained. It also makes a great cross country skiing route in the winter. The trail is not difficult, but it does climb some fairly significant hills. Though its short 1.7 mile loop makes any hill climb tolerable for all levels of hikers. If you want to create a loop out of the trail take the blue trail connector on the way back.
This trail connects directly to the East Lodi Marsh Trail - a more difficult and longer portion of footpath. In the other direction, there are many miles of walking along roads to reach the next segment at Springfield Hill. It is easy to see how the Lodi Marsh Trail will be extended to be a linear trail that will cut out some of those road miles. There is already a parking lot established on Lee Road across Spring Creek. So, expect to see more miles and a bridge on the Lodi Marsh Segment in the years to come.
