The Storrs Lake Segment of the Ice Age Trail is a 1.7-mile footpath. This section is easy as it crosses mild hills and along the shore of Bowers Lake in the Storrs Lake State Wildlife Area. There are parking lots at both ends of the segment. At its south end the Storrs Lake Segment connects to the Milton Segment which is a designated trail route alongside roads and on sidewalks through the town of Milton. From the north end of the Storrs Lake trail thru-hikers must walk on 9 miles of roadway to meet up with the Clover Segment.

The Storrs Lake Wildlife Area is a nice place to get away in the Milton and Janesville Area. The Ice Age Trail here is well developed with wide footpaths. Due to its large parking lots and easy access to highways this segment is popular with groups meeting up for a walk in the woods.

Beginning at the paved lot near the boat access to Storrs Lake the trail meanders through hardwood forests. At an intersection with an unmarked trail the path turns to hug the shoreline of Bowers Lake. A brief curvy boardwalk keeps hikers from having to leap over a stream cut. The path emerges from the hardwood stand and crosses a marsh. The trail then enters another small woods where the path navigates along the rims of small depressions of glacial moraine sculpted landscape. Then the trail climbs gently uphill along the edge of a farm field. Just across Bowers Lake Road is the second parking lot.

There are other trails which meander about through restored prairies and woodlands at Storrs Lake Wildlife Area. There is also a boat launch on Storrs Lake. The Storrs Lake Segment is a welcome natural retreat along the southern hook of the Ice Age Trail.
