Along this short section of the IAT the hike is an easy saunter on the sidewalks of leafy green streets of quiet Milton. The trail passes through many town parks where there is ample parking, restrooms, and water available. There is also the opportunity for through hikers to stop and do a load of laundry or get a bite to eat in a cafe.

There are also several notable historic sites in Milton. The Milton College, or Milton Academy, was one of the State's oldest and its longest running college. It was known for its excellent music program. Today you can step inside one of the stately college buildings and browse an antiques mall.

Further down the trail hikers will pass the Milton House. The Milton house was a stagecoach inn established by Joseph Goodrich, the founder of Milton. It also served as a stop on the underground railroad. A secret tunnel connects underground between the inn and a log cabin in the back yard which was used for hiding former slaves fleeing north to Canada. Hikers can stop in and take a tour of the Milton House and museum for about $8.

The trail finishes at the intersection with the Storrs Lake Segment which was a historic encampment for the American forces pursuing Chief Blackhawk. Among the notable people who spent time in this camp was a young Abraham Lincoln.
