The Echo Rock trail at Mirror Lake State Park is a short and easy walking trail that leads to a point and overlook on Mirror Lake. The first leg of the trail is fully accessible, wide, and paved. This allows wheelchairs and strollers a smooth ride to the overlook. From there a wide dirt footpath leads down to the waters edge and encircles Echo Rock. The Trail continues on and passes a bridge which connects to Ishnalla trails on the other side of the bay. A short paved section of the trail returns you to the parking lot.

Echo Rock is a time weathered sandstone bump that is irresistible to clamor around, under, and on top of. Gentle Mirror Lake laps at it's base on three sides. While Echo Rock is elvishly small, it is home to a thriving family of towering white pines including one of the oldest and most wizened pine trees I have seen in Wisconsin.
A soft trail of sand and pine needles winds around on a shelf carved out of the rock. This trail is short and easy. It's a great starter hike for families introducing themselves to the wonders of the great outdoors.
This trail evokes the magic of nature. It is soft, and pleasant, and mysterious. Trees shading this footpath surely are home to sprites; while a goblin must be hiding beneath the Ishnala bridge. And, if not those, then such magical animals as owls, woodpeckers, slugs, and mythical deer with multi-pointed antler crowns most certainly call this protected nook of nature home.
Wisconsin Dells is jammed with hysterically fun artificial entertainment of every kind. There are resorts, and lodges, and restaurants that are made up to feel woodsy and offer a wilderness style experience; and yet there is still actual wilderness on display at Mirror Lake State Park.
Well ... okay Mirror Lake itself only exists because of a well planned dam; this is a designed and planned wilderness ... but I digress. That pine smell in the air? -It's not floor cleaner.
